Founded by Michelle Hammer, a proud New Yorker living with schizophrenia, Schizophrenic.NYC is dedicated to changing the way mental illness and homelessness are perceived and addressed in New York City. Michelle's mission is to spark conversations about mental health, break stigmas, and advocate for better treatment of the mentally ill homeless population.

Inspired by the Rorschach Test, typically seen in black ink, Michelle uses her vibrant, colorful artwork to challenge perspectives and ignite discussions. By reimagining this iconic psychological tool, she encourages everyone to see things differently—just as someone with schizophrenia might—and to think more openly about mental health.
